2005 Mar 22 - Baltacha fails to qualify

Elena Baltacha failed to qualify for the main draw of the NASDAQ-100 Open in Miami.

After an impressive 6-4 6-3 win over Czech Alena Vaskova in the opening qualification round, Elena crashed 6-2 6-0 in the final round to German Sandra Kloesel.

Reaching the main draw could have seen the British starlet break into the world top 100 from her current 118 ranking.
