Greg Rusedski was forced out of the ATP Open 13 in Marseille, France, with a problem to the left-hand side of his rib cage.

The news was a double blow as his scheduled opponent in the second round was qualifier Sebastien de Chaunac who stunned top seed Guillermo Coria 6-4 7-5 in the opener.
