2004 Oct 27 - Rusedski defeats Stepanek

Greg Rusedski battled for three sets before defeating Czech Radek Stepanek 7-6(1) 4-6 6-4 to reach the quarter-finals of the St. Petersburg Open in Russia.

The British No.2 is having a good run of form in Russia at the moment having reached the final of the Kremlin Cup last week.

In the next round Greg will face either the experienced Spaniard Alex Corretja or the giant Croatian Ivo Karlovic. Greg has lost to Alex in each of their three previous meetings and so he may prefer to take on the less experienced Croatian whom he has yet to play against.
