2004 Sep 11 - US Open: Murray reaches boys final
Andrew Murray destroyed German Mihail Zverev 6-3 6-2 in the semi-final of the US Open boys event to
earn a place in his first Grand Slam final against Sergiy Stakhovsky of the Ukraine.
This achievement follows quickly on the heels of Miles Kasiri who reached the Wimbledon boys final
this year only to be defeated by the powerful Frenchman Gael Monfils.
The decision by Jeremy Bates (British Davis Cup Captain) back in
July to include Andrew Murray in the
team to face Austria in the World Group Play-off on 24 September has either inspired the young Scot or
is testament to the ability Jeremy knew the youngster already had.
The US Open boys final will be played on Sunday 12th September. Good luck Andrew!
