2004 Jul 05 - Henman defeats Arazi in Cincy
Tim Henman defeated Moroccan Hicham Arazi 4-6 6-3 7-5 in the second round of the Western &
Southern Financial Group Masters in Cincinnati, USA.
In a tight match lasting more than two hours and finishing in the early hours of the morning
it was the British No.1 who held his nerve and achieve back to back wins against the Moroccan
in 2004 (Wimbledon) and improve his win/loss record to 10-3.
After the match Tim said:
"I think we were both a little bit edgy. Coming into a game against Arazi you
know he can be a little bit flakey.
"I knew that I couldn't lose that battle so in the second and third sets I knuckled down to
the job in hand.
"This late, it's a good one to win, I'm sure it doesn't feel too good to lose."
This win sets up a mouth-watering third round match against Australian Lleyton Hewitt who
is undefeated in their seven previous matches stretching back to their first encounter in
Scottsdale, Arizona, USA in 2000.
