2004 Jul 29 - Henman defeated by Kuerten
Tim Henman crashed 7-5 6-4 to the flamboyant Brazilian Gustavo Kuerten in the second round of the
Tennis Masters Toronto in Canada.
Early in the first set Tim had chances to break but Gustavo held on before striking a decisive blow
to lead 6-5 and serve out the set 7-5.
Gustavo's second set performance was very business like as his serves and passing shots hit with
pace and precision which the British No.1 struggled to cope with. It was the Brazilian who earned a
break which was all he needed to take the final set 6-4.
The result was a disappointment for Tim as this is one of the pre-US Open hard-court tournaments but
he is still scheduled to play in the Western & Southern Financial Group Masters event in Cincinnati, USA
starting 2nd July. His first round match will be against the Moroccan Younes El Aynaoui who Tim has a 3-0
undefeated career record against.
