Legends Lyric for Charity
Mansour Bahrami - always an entertainer on the Court recently delighted guests at a Charity
dinner at the Radisson Hotel Liverpool when he spontaneously graced the stage and burst into song!
Bahrami went on to master the audience into an auctioneering frenzy and extracted £350 form
Pete McNamara for one of Ilie Nastases signed books - which added to the grand total of over
£9000 being raised.
Bahrami was also joined by fellow Legend Players Ilie Nastase, Peter McNamara and Guillermo Villas.
The charity event, organised by Habitat For Humanity which assists in the build of homes for low
income families, played host to ATP Players Richard Kraijeck (former Wimbledon Winner), Vince Spadea
(who reached the final 16 at Wimbledon recently) and Mens Singles Winner at Calderstones Park Ivan Ljubicick.
The event was supported by Northern Vision who are responsible for the Liverpool International tennis
tournament which will be returning to Liverpool's Calderstones Park next year - 6th to 12th June 2005.
Liverpool City Council have already declared their support for the event through to 2008. Anders Borg
Tournament Director said:
"The Tournament this year was bigger and better than ever before. The quality
of the players which we are now attracting truly reflects that this is now the Wimbledon of the North."
The tennis tournament this year was a massive success and is the perfect opportunity for the players
to be involved in the Round Robin event which provides them with superb grass court practice.
