2004 Apr 05 - Tennis Show 2004 launches
Press Release - Issued on: 05/04/04
THE TENNIS SHOW LAUNCHES ON MAY 14TH AT EARLS COURT IN LONDON
On the eve of the British Davis Cup against Luxembourg, event organisers
Everest Shows and Exhibitions Limited launch the UK’s first ever
consumer Tennis Exhibition at Earls Court in London. Taking place during
the weekend of May 14th-16th and endorsed by both The Lawn Tennis
Association and Sport England; The Tennis Show promises to provide an
exciting interactive tennis experience not to be missed by tennis
players and sports enthusiasts alike.
“The LTA is delighted to support The Tennis Show and will utilise all
our marketing channels to communicate the benefits of visiting this show
to the widest possible audience,” said Andrew Thomas; Commercial Manager
at the LTA. “We are committed to making Britain a great tennis nation
and by growing the game at all levels. The Tennis Show provides a great
opportunity for everyone in tennis to showcase the sport.”
British No.1 Tim Henman has also lent his support to the show and if his
tournament schedule allows, hopes to be able to make an appearance
during the 3 days. “It sounds like an exciting concept”, commented
Henman. “Any opportunity to get more people interested in the game, and
help raise the profile of tennis in the UK can only be a good thing”.
The show will have something for everyone with a complete range of
activities and events taking place over the three days. Fun on-site
coaching clinics will be taking place on two full sized courts, giving
viewers the opportunity to not only play-test the latest equipment but
also receive valuable free coaching tips and advise from qualified LTA
Coaches. A ‘Fastest Serve’ feature will also allow entrants to see how
their serves measure up on the speed gun against the top pro’s and you
will be able to shop around and for the latest deals from holidays, to
grip sizes, to racket strings and shoes. Hosted by top industry
officials, a seminar programme discussing ‘hot tennis topics’ will run
each day.
On entry to the exhibition visitors, will be asked to identify what
standard and type of player they are. Once this has been ascertained,
ten minute coaching sessions can be booked with top coaches, who will
work on particular strokes. “The Tennis Show is timed to coincide with
the launch of the summer tennis season in this country,” said Event
Director Rob Sherwood. “There’s nothing more frustrating than buying a
racket then realising it’s the wrong one! The Tennis Show allows you to
test out all the current rackets and get up to date before the season
starts.
Andy Ford, publisher of ACE Magazine, for the official magazine sponsor
for the event, commented: “We are proud to be associated with The Tennis
Show. It will become a key date on the British Tennis calendar for
players, spectators and the industry. Here’s a show where you take your
trainers and actually get involved in playing the sport. “

Park, The Masters at The Royal Albert Hall, and exclusive hospitality
days combined with top level coaching at The Queens Club, London.
The Tennis Show is also taking place alongside Fitness Expo, a major new
Consumer Event promoting health, fitness and diet. Entry costs £12 for
an adult, £7 for juniors and senior citizens, while a family ticket
