2004 Mar 18 - Henman into Pacific quarter-final
Tim Henman crushed Australian Wayne Arthurs 6-1 6-3 in the forth round of the Pacific Life Open
at Indian Wells (USA).
In the first set Tim was able to break the Arthurs serve at will, breaking him three times
while holding his own serve with relative ease.
The second set didn't start as well for Tim as he was broken in his first service game, but
he quickly regrouped to break the big serving Australian twice before serving out the set.
After the match Tim said:
"It's tough to break Wayne and when I was love-40 down in the first game I was already
beginning to prepare for my serve.
"However, five points later I was ahead and that was a great boost for me and very
frustrating for him. As the game went on I kept getting better and better and to break
someone like Wayne five times is excellent.
"He's not the strongest of returners but I was also serving well and to win like that is
great for the confidence."
In the quarter-final Tim will face the 2003 US Open champion Andy Roddick who had plenty
left in the tank as he demolished the Frenchman Nicolas Escude 6-3 6-2.
