2003 Oct 27 - Henman defeats Davydenko in Paris
Tim Henman made a good start to the Paris Masters as he breezed past Nikolay Davydenko 6-3 6-4 in the
first round.
The first set looked like it was heading for a tiebreak until the Russian dropped his serve resulting in Tim being
given the opportunity to serve out the set. Unfortunately for Nikolay he started the second set just
as he started the first, by dropping his serve. A recovery looked likely when Nikolay recovered the break,
but Tim then applied further pressure to seal the win.
In the second round Tim has the opportunity to avenge his Wimbledon quarter-final defeat this year,
as he once again takes on the talented Frenchman Sebastian Grosjean. Tim said:
"This is a good opportunity to get revenge on his home turf.
"There is a lot more at stake for him than me and I have got to take advantage.
"This has been my most frustrating year as a professional and I am going to take
as much out of this week as I can."
