2003 Aug 19 - US Open: Henman unseeded
Tim Henman could have a tough US Open first round draw after it was announced that he
will not be one of the 32 seeds for the event. His ATP Entry System ranking was a desperately close
33. This means he could face any of the big boys, including No.1 seed Andre Agassi, or No.2 seed and
2003 Wimbledon Champion Roger Federer. However, a withdrawal from one of the seeded players could promote
Tim to a seeded position, so we live in hope!
Greg Rusedski is also unseeded - which is no surprise given his injury problems - and so also faces a tough first
round draw. It is Greg who is probably more confident that Tim going into the US Open, as it is he who has
previously reached the Final (lost to Pat Rafter) in 1997. Tim by contrast has never got past Round 4
(last 16), which he has reached only twice in his career.
