2003 Aug 04 - Henman wins Washington ATP event
Tim Henman is back on track with a superb win against Fernando Gonzales (6-3 6-4)
in the Final of the Legg Mason Tennis Classic in Washington.
The big hitting Chilean just couldn't break the Henman serve, even in a tight second set.
And rain delays which usually have a negative effect on Tim's game were nowhere to be seen.
After the match Tim said:
"It's a special day for me. He's a great player. I know so many of
these young guys coming up, and he's got such a strong game. It was never going to be easy.
"I think today's conditions were probably the toughest we've had to play in."
Having reached the Quarter-Finals of Wimbledon recently, beating Andy Roddick in the Semi-Finals
at Washington, and beating the very promising Fernando Gonzales in the Final, things couldn't
be any better as Tim prepares for the next Grand Slam event - the US Open.
